New Summit House for Pikes Peak?

According to KKTV, the plans have been drawn up for a new visitor building atop the 14,115 foot summit of America's Mountain. I have to say, it's about time. I was up top last month and couldn't help thinking that the one from the 60s has taken quite a beating. The current summit house looks more like a bunker or shelter. This one looks real purty, with spires and bricks and whatnot. Might take a few years to raise the funds and get it built, but bravo for setting it in motion! Here's a look. What do you think?

North Slope Recreation Area Now Open!

Pikes Peak's North Slope Recreation Area is open as of the beginning of May. If you love to fish, Crystal Reservoir and both Catamount Lakes are open for the season. Or maybe you just like to hike, get outside, or have a picnic by the water with a mountain view. It's all good. We've got a little rain today, but by tomorrow the sun should be out and everything will be green and fresh. Have a great time out there!
