Feeding Giraffes at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

I don't care how old you are. Feeding giraffes is fun. They're fourteen feet tall, have 12-inch-long blue tongues, and might be the most gentle creatures on earth.

Doesn't that deserve a cracker?

At Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs (America's only mountain zoo) you can hand-feed crackers to any one of the 33 reticulated giraffes in their herd.

My 4-year-old niece had a blast, and I have to admit, so did I. The mountain view was pretty spectacular too.

Caving or Spelunking?

I'm not sure which term is cooler, but I think spelunking wins.

We went to Cave of the Winds recently in Manitou Springs, near Colorado Springs. Inside the cave was a plethora of stalactites, myriad speleothems, and numerous extremophiles, including the infamous Troglobites.

Who knew caves could be so challenging to my vernacular?

Oh yeah, there was lots of dark creepy spots and it was pretty dang eerie too.

Happy Caving!
